Understanding the stages of development of stretch marks can help you in trying to treat them and prevent them. It has been shown that you get better results the earlier you treat stretch marks. When they’re new they’re generally red while they get white or silvery with age.
So, if you learn how to spot those new stretch marks then you can get to treating them and have a better chance of never having to look at them again. It is never to late to help them fade substantially though, so don’t get too disheartened about your older marks.
Stretch Mark Color
Color plays an important role in recognizing the stage of development of the stretch mark. Newer stretch marks are brighter in color because stretch marks fade as they get older.
Newer stretch marks will be red or purple in color where older ones will be white or silvery. The new stretch marks are still showing signs of the damage internally to the blood vessels and that is why they are colored.
Stretch Mark Treatment Options
Various available creams can be a really good treatment for newer stretch marks. You can also encourage the body to treat the stretch marks from the inside out. Water as a treatment for stretch marks, can be very helpful. Drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day and eating a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals can help the body naturally get rid of stretch marks.
Treating Old Stretch Marks
Older stretch marks often require longer periods of treatment which is why it is good to understand the stages of stretch marks. When you spot those older ones you will know they will require more hard core treatment if you want them to go away.
