When Stretch Marks Prevent You From Feeling Sexy
Posted on 08 March 2009 by Dana Prince
Whether you are a man or woman, someone who has given birth or merely lost a good deal of weight, when you have stretch marks marring your skin you may find that it affects your ability to feel sexy.
Do not feel as if you are alone. This is completely understandable. Stretch marks can affect areas of the skin which include breasts, abdomen, thighs, and even arms and backs. The more extensive and prolific the stretch marks, the more they may affect your sense of self esteem. This can be a real problem for married and single people alike.
The Problem With Stretch Marks…
If you are married, the inability to see yourself as attractive can negatively affect your existing relationship. Perhaps your partner has made comments about the appearance of your stretch marks. Of course, this makes it difficult to be comfortable in the buff. Even if your partner claims he or she is perfectly content with the look of your skin, you may not be able to overcome your own negative self-perception and experience a decrease in your sex drive.
For single people, negative perceptions about your body can prevent you from finding, and maintaining, a deep and lasting relationship. Most of us experience some trepidation when getting to know someone intimately. Dealing with the existence of stretch marks just adds to these worries, making it nearly impossible to ever feel comfortable with your body.
When considering methods of removing or lightening stretch marks, it should be quite clear that this is a very important part of developing self esteem. There is no reason to hesitate in beginning a treatment program to take care of this problem.
Stretch marks are a common affliction and there are many methods of dealing with them currently available. Getting rid of stretch marks, or even camouflaging them, is well worth the investment of time, trouble, and money if it will once again make you feel sexy. Do not settle for less of a life merely because you feel unattractive – do something about it!
