Winter Skin Rescue

Posted on 02 January 2009 by Dana Prince

Although we hide most of our skin in winter, it’s nice to know it’s summer ready. Winter can do a number on our skin so it’s a good idea to follow these tips to keep it as healthy as possible.

-Moisturize daily and moisturize more than just your face! Your skin is thirsty so feed it! A good nighttime moisturizing and after shower regimen can help. It’ll quickly become an effortless habit for you

-Eat well even when fruits and veggies are out of season. Eat hydroponic or imported produce or frozen produce throughout the winter. Of course you’ll get the best nutrient value from your own local in-season organic produce but imported or frozen is still going to help you get the 5-10 servings of veggies and fruits you need a day throughout the winter. Plenty of fruits and vegetables are going to be good for your skin. Feed your skin from the inside by eating well all year round. Antioxidants are especially important for helping fight free radicals

-Vitamins. There are even vitamins now marketed to help you have healthier, younger looking skin. We’ll talk more about that tomorrow on this blog but being kind to your body will result in your skin thanking you!

-Deal with any skin issues you have. See a dermatologist if there’s anything unusual and don’t be afraid to treat problems such as stretch marks so you can feel good about the way your skin looks.

It won’t be long until warmer weather is here and getting your skin ready for it by being proactive now can have the best results.
